1. Regular grooming is key

To keep your Bernedoodle’s coat looking its best, regular grooming is key. This means brushing their fur at least once a week and bathing them every few weeks. Grooming not only helps to remove dirt and debris from their coat, but it also helps to distribute natural oils evenly throughout their fur. This keeps their coat healthy and looking shiny.

2. Use the right shampoo and conditioner

When you do bathe your Bernedoodle, be sure to use a gentle, hypoallergenic shampoo and conditioner. This will help to avoid irritating their skin and causing any allergic reactions. You may also want to consider using a leave-in conditioner to help detangle their fur and keep it looking lustrous.

3. Avoid hot spots

Hot spots are a common skin issue in dogs that can be incredibly uncomfortable. They’re usually caused by allergies, insect bites, or underlying health conditions. If your Bernedoodle starts to develop a hot spot, it’s important to take them to the vet right away. In the meantime, you can help prevent hot spots by keeping their coat clean and free of debris.

4. Protect their coat from the sun

Just like our skin, our dog’s fur can be damaged by too much sun exposure. To protect your Bernedoodle’s coat, consider applying a light layer of sunscreen before taking them outside for extended periods of time. This will help to prevent their fur from fading or becoming dry and brittle.

5. Add a supplement to their diet

If you really want to give your Bernedoodle’s coat a boost, consider adding a supplement to their diet. Fish oil is a great option as it’s packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which are known to promote healthy skin and fur. You can find fish oil supplements at most pet stores or online.

By following these simple tips, you can help keep your Bernedoodle’s coat healthy and looking its best. Regular grooming, proper shampooing and conditioning, and a healthy diet will go a long way in keeping your pup’s fur shining bright.
